A common conversation we have with our readers is around keeping Charleston beautiful. So tomorrow, we dare you to take part in CARTA’s annual Dump the Pump Day challenge.

Nationally, Dump the Pump Day is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and is held on the third Thursday in June to bring awareness to transportation options, reduce traffic congestion, + help the environment.

Each year, CARTA takes part + encourages commuters to take public transportation instead of driving for one day. This year, those who share their experience on social media will also have the chance to win some pretty awesome prizes – including a new bike from Affordabike + a year-long CARTA “Golden Ticket” pass.

Here’s how to participate in CARTA’s Dump the Pump Day challenge:
• Make it official + sign the Dump the Pump Pledge promising to participate.
• Document your commute on Twitter, Facebook, + Instagram using the hashtag #DumpthePumpCHS

CARTA also provides amenities such as free Wi-Fi, bike racks on buses, + solar-powered shelters all for just $2 one way or $3.50 for Express one way.

Excited yet?! Start planning your route at RideCARTA.com + track buses in real time using the Transit App. Be sure to also use the hashtag #CHStoday for a chance to be featured on our social media channels.
