Our top five stories for the month of September

Bonjour, Charleston. September has been a MONTH. While I was fortunate enough to make it out of the city in order to travel to Nice, France for my birthday, Hurricane Florence brought along stress, anxiety of the unknown, fear, disruption, and left devastation in her wake.

With a mandatory evacuation in effect, the Lowcountry seemingly shut down, preparing itself for an event that was expected to be one of the worst in the past century. Charleston was lucky– getting by Flo with a tropical storm warning and most residents bopping along downtown from hurricane party to hurricane party.

Others, however; lost homes, lives, and their sense of safety. There is still much to be done. Hopefully, next month will bring forth a positive light + continued recovery efforts. If you are interested in donating or volunteering, you can visit the National Voluntary Organizations After a Disaster (NVOAD) for a list of trusted organizations.

With my recent travels, I personally am getting back into the office and catching up on my colleagues’ amazing work. (Huge shout-out to Jen + Justine for continuing to bring y’all the latest news, happenings, + incredible content while I was OOO).

Again, I cannot thank my team enough for allowing me to take a jaunt overseas + am glad I had a home to come home to.

Now with September come and gone– I am ready for cooler weather, to partake in the incredible lineup of events coming to town, and am pumped to get another month under our belts here at CHStoday.
