Celebrate Pride Month with these local events around Charleston

Pride Month is in June and the Lowcountry has some fun events to celebrate.

June is Pride Month, and there are several ways to celebrate in CHS. Keep reading for nine Pride events we’re looking forward to this month.

Teen Library Activity | Tuesday, June 4 | 3:30-4:30 p.m. | Otranto Library | Free | This teen program will be in the community room, with opportunities to paint Pride rocks, make buttons, bracelets, parfaits, and play trivia.

Pride Flag Raising | Tuesday, June 4 | 5-6 p.m. | Commonhouse Aleworks | Free |This is the kick-off event for the weeklong Park Circle Pride celebration. The Pride flag will be raised alongside LGBTQ+ organizations, and there will be a welcome speech, special guests, and entertainers.

Pride Block Party + Day Rave Dance Party | Saturday, June 8 | 2-6 p.m. | Commonhouse Aleworks | Free | LGBTQ+ organizations will be joined by a healthcare forum, vendors, a face painter, and a DJ.

Queer Adult Prom |Saturday, June 8 | 6-10 p.m. | Park Circle Community Building | $75 | This fundraising event is in its seventh year and this time, its theme is “OZMOSIS” — a celebration of the “The Wizard of Oz.”

Happier Hours | Saturday, June 8 | 9 a.m.-2 p.m. | 2301 Noisette Blvd. | Free | This event will mix movement and choir music. Attendees will start with a high-energy HIIT workout led by acclaimed NYC-based movement facilitator Ariel Padilla. Following the workout is a One-Day Choir experience led by guest facilitator Kenter Davies. No experience is necessary.

Pride Circle Pride Finale Party | Sunday, June 9 | 3 p.m. | Paddock + Whiskey + Tattooed Moose | Free |This party will feature live music, drink specials, a drag race, and contests.

Tanger Pride Celebration | Saturday, June 15 | 12-3 p.m. | Tanger Outlets Charleston | Free | This third annual celebration will have music, refreshments, prizes, and raffles.

Make your pride badge | Friday, June 14 | 4:15-5:15 p.m. | Wando Mt. Pleasant Library | Free | Charlestonians of all ages are welcome to Wanda Meeting Room 2 to make their pride badge. Pro tip: All supplies will be provided, call the library to register.

Author Talk | Saturday, June 15 | 1-2:30 p.m. | Baxter-Patrick James Island Library | Free | Harlan Greene — local historian + author of “The Real Rainbow Row” — will speak about Charleston’s LGBTQ+ history at this adults-only event.
