The traveling “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition” has returned to Charleston. Step into the Vatican Sistine Chapel right here in the Lowcountry and soak up some of the most famous artwork of Michelangelo.

This unique exhibit is located in the heart of downtown at Festival Hall, 56 Beaufain St. Visitors will get to admire a 360-degree angle (including the ceiling) of 34 iconic pieces from Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. The art displayed are photo replicas featuring special printing techniques to give viewers the same feel as the original art. The pieces are life-sized, and you will get a close-up perspective.

Some of the work displayed includes “The Creation of Adam,” “The Prophet of Daniel,” + “David and Goliath.” It will take attendees 60 to 90 minutes to look at everything. Pictures are allowed but professional equipment and tripods are not.

This exhibit will run until Sunday, Oct. 1. All ages are welcome. The tickets start at $21.50 for adults and $14 for children. Pro tip: There are nearby parking garages.

The CHStoday team stopped by last week and were amazed. The immersive experience included peaceful music playing in the background + information about the pieces on nearby signs. There are also QR codes to learn more. Be sure not to miss the “Stories From Genesis.”
