ICYMI: Southern Living selected the Lowcountry for its 2024 Idea House. The home sits on the banks of the Kiawah River, a waterfront community on Johns Island. This one-of-a-kind home will be featured in the magazine’s September issue, officially on newsstands today, Aug. 23.
What is an Idea House?
This initiative allows the magazine to bring its ideas to life with landscape architects, interior designers, and builders. Each year the houses are built in a different Southern city.

The Idea House’s interior designer Allison Elebash explained the importance of involving local artisans and makers in this project since Charleston + surrounding areas have so many.
