Plan ahead for your traveling out of the Holy City.

Are you planning some end-of-summer travel? If so, keep reading to find out about these updates from Charleston International Airport that might impact how long it takes you to navigate around the airport.

Starting Aug. 23, travelers should expect longer wait times at TSA checkpoints. One of the lanes will be closed while a new X-ray machine is being installed. Things should be back to normal on Thursday, Sept. 12.

In addition, significant changes to the airport’s traffic patterns will take place as part of the Parking Garage 3 project.

  • Monday, Aug. 26: The west entry of the traffic circle will be closed. Drivers will need use Dreamliner Drive at the intersection of International and Porsche Boulevard to reach the terminal.
  • Over the next few nights: Concrete barriers will be installed along Loop Road, and construction will begin on a temporary road leading to the daily deck ticketing booth.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 28: The remaining sections of the traffic circle will be blocked off, and passenger and rental car traffic patterns will be reversed.

Detours and signage will be in place to guide travelers, and the airport will provide ongoing updates as the project progresses.
