Charleston, things are about to get wild — the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, better known as SEWE, returns Friday, Feb. 14, through Sunday, Feb. 16. The annual event features artists, craftsmen, collectors, sporting enthusiasts, and the community coming together to celebrate the great outdoors.
Did you know? SEWE is a nonprofit that aims to increase tourism + boost local economies, all while raising awareness and educating folks about wildlife and the outdoors. The nonprofit achieves that goal through 90+ events, 300 exhibitions, and over 80 artists on display at five venues across downtown.

Construction on phase one of the Lowcountry Lowline is set for this fall. Charleston City Council approved funding for the first phase (a 1.6-mile path, a park, and two revenue-generating parking lots). Cooper River Bridge TIF is the funding source, and Friends of the Lowline will fundraise to offset costs.

New year, large space.The Coastal Cupboard, a local grocery + kitchen store, is gearing up for an expansion to double its size. The shop located in Belle Hall Shopping Center is currently under construction as it is taking over its neighboring space, with plans and to open in April. (The Post and Courier)

This summer, the Dave Matthews Band will rock Daniel Island back-to-back nights. The group will play at Credit One Stadium on Friday, June 20 + Saturday, June 21. Ticket sales begin on Friday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. (Holy City Sinner)

On Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., you can join local artisan Sarah Edwards-Hammond at The Charleston Museum for a hands-on workshop on sweetgrass basketry. Tickets will be $75 for museum members, and $105 for non-members.

Get ready to cheer on North Charleston’s own, Chef Shuai Wang. He will head to Canada with more than a dozen other chefs to compete in season 22 of Bravo’s “Top Chef.” You may recognize Chef Wang’s name from his restaurants Jackrabbit Filly + King BBQ, or the dozens of headlines he’s been a part of over the years for winning awards for his food.
