Sip, sip, hooray — There are two opportuni-teas to join a hands-on tea class at Oliver Pluff & Co.’s tea shop in downtown Charleston.

Basics of Loose Tea | Wednesday, Sept. 10 | 10:15 a.m. | $50 | Explore the history and flavor of iced tea + learn how the region where the leaves are grown impacts its characteristics. You’ll taste the three teas that make up the English breakfast blend + learn how to brew a cup using loose leaves.

Tea 4 Ways | Sunday, Sept. 14 | 12 p.m. | $50 | In this session, you’ll learn four different preparation methods: traditional iced tea, sun tea, cold brew, and hot-to-iced. Then you’ll taste each version to compare how the steeping method affects flavor.

Civic

The proposed exterior lighting for a future gallery by RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) was rejected by the Board of Architectural Review. Board members say the proposed lighting didn’t fit the character of the Wagener Building, and suggested features like gas lanterns for the historic area. (The Post and Courier)
