Looking to jazz up your Labor Day plans? The Lowcountry Jazz Festival returns to Charleston today, Aug. 29 through Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Gaillard Center. The annual festival, now in its 19th year, is a collaboration between the Charleston Gaillard Center and Closing the Gap in Health Care.

While tonight’s event is sold out, you can still get tickets for this weekend’s events.

Saturday: Bob James, KEM, and The BoykinZ
Sunday: Pieces of a Dream and Boney James

Pacific Box & Crate, home to Edmund’s Oast and Rancho Lewis on the upper peninsula, is undergoing some changes. Asana Partners is converting 26,000 sqft of office space into retail and restaurant space. Don’t worry, the brewery and restaurant will remain open during construction, which is set to wrap up in the second quarter of 2026.

You know we love our sea turtles here at CHStoday, and we have an update that will warm your heart. On Wednesday, the South Carolina Aquarium released five endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles that its team rehabilitated.

Seashore Mallow, Marigold, Hyacinth, Sunflower, and Sweet Caroline returned to the ocean, and dozens of supporters flocked to Folly Beach County Park to show their support. Fun fact: So far, the aquarium has cared for 33 turtles this year. Learn more about the aquarium and its Sea Turtle Care Center.
