🧺 A local market is spreading its wings
Friendly, fresh, and local are a few things Odd Duck Market prides itself on. | Photos provided by Odd Duck Market
Odd Duck Market — a Park Circle staple known for its welcoming community space, cafe, and market that highlights local brands — is expanding to a second location downtown. The new market will call 637 Rutledge Ave. in the Hampton Park area home, with plans to open next winter.
The market shines a light on local spots like Ruby’s Bagels and offers tons of gluten-free and vegan options.

It will make itself at home in a renovated historic bank building and add 15 jobs. Did we mention? The new location will have a wrap-around patio, a walk-up ordering window, and 28 parking spots – that’s basically a Charleston miracle.
Need a gift for a friend? Stop by the market and shop for locally-made goods.

A closer look at Courier Square
The project is planned for nearly 4 acres between Columbus, Line, and King Streets. | Renderings byHart Howerton, Sottile & Sottile, and the Board of Architectural Review – Large
In case you missed it, the Board of Architectural Review – Large gave conceptual approval for Phase 3 of Courier Square over the summer.
So, what’s Courier Square? It’s a multi-phase mixed-use Planned Urban Development on 3.7 acres between Columbus, Line, and King Streets, set to add new buildings and public spaces to the area.
The project will include apartments, retail and restaurant spaces, office buildings, hospitality, and public gathering areas — all designed to blend with the Lowcountry Lowline park. The development would create an area that’s been dubbed the “midtown” district and aims to be a walkable area that combines historical architectural styles with modern design. Follow the project’s progress here.
