🌿 Volunteering is unbe-leaf-able

A group of volunteers in green shirts kneel and work together, planting and gardening in a public park area. They use tools, buckets, and gloves, contributing to a community beautification project.

The weather is cooling down, and the opportunities to volunteer are heating up. If you’re looking to give back, consider lending a helping hand to the Charleston Parks Conservancy. There are dozens of hands-on projects to support 26 of Charleston’s parks, gardens, and trails.

Some current opportunities include picking up trash and serving as a watering volunteer — check out 17 other opportunities. Mark your calendar: next month, you can help with Bloom Charleston, a community celebration of parks and gardens. Volunteers will be needed Oct. 17-18 for set up, the plant sale, and breaking down the event.

Ready to get your hands dirty? Join a 30-minute new volunteer information session to learn about how our volunteers support the Charleston Parks Conservancy’s mission, and how to get started. The next session is Thursday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Callie

Say goodbye to summer on Sunday, September 21 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Summer Send-Off. The event will be at Fiat Lux and is open to the public. I’m looking forward to a whole hog barbecue and live entertainment.

Pro tip: Plan to sip your drink outside for some breathtaking rooftop views of the Holy City. Here’s a pic of me, the last time I visited Fiat Lux — it just might be the best spot to see the town from a bird’s eye view.
