Foodie news: Sushi | Bar will open this December in Charleston’s French Quarter, offering a 12-seat omakase with a 17-course tasting menu led by two Michelin-starred Chef Anthony Martin. Next door, Bellerose Hotel Bar will include nine tables and premium cuts like Japanese A5. Both emphasize seasonal ingredients, craftsmanship, and intimate, chef-driven dining experiences.
Civic
On Friday, Folly Beach swore in Chris Bizzell as mayor in City Hall. Bizzell won the Nov. 18 runoff with nearly 55% of the vote, succeeding four-term Mayor Tim Goodwin. He pledges balanced solutions for local issues, including the ongoing management of short-term rental caps. (WCBD)
Holiday
City of Charleston offices will be closed this Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Recreation facilities will close on Thursday, reopening Friday or Saturday. Plan ahead and check schedules for trash collection and other city services.

Off Track Ice Cream, the downtown Charleston shop known for traditional and vegan flavors, will open a second location in North Charleston’s Park Circle. The new scoop shop at 1054 E. Montague Ave. is expected to debut in summer 2026, nearly six years after the original downtown opening. (Holy City Sinner)

From classroom to microphone. USC journalism students will now be able to pitch real stories to SC Public Radio through a new CIC + SCETV partnership. Juniors and seniors will attend news meetings, work with editors, hear their stories aired statewide, and gain resume experience before graduation.

SC State Parks will offer free admission on Friday, Nov. 28, for Black Friday as part of the #OptOutsideSC initiative. If you want to take a little road trip, free historic home tours at Rose Hill, Redcliffe, and Hampton Plantations are available by reservation.
