City Editor Erika here. I recently caught up with Chinenyem Nwadiugwu, founder and CEO of She Biology, a CBD skincare brand based in Charleston. You can find the products on Six & Main, our parent company’s e-commerce site featuring premium products made by small businesses and artists across the country.

What is She Biology?

We envision a compassionate sanctuary within the skincare community, where our meticulously crafted products transcend the ordinary, offering a mindful wellness journey. Through the synergy of our organically grown cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid strains, harmoniously blended with potent skincare actives, we aspire to co-create a haven for stress-free skin and serene minds. Our heartfelt mission is to inspire a culture of self-care, transforming beauty routines into rituals of tranquility that resonate with the soul.

What do you love about running your business in Charleston?

I adore Charleston’s strong sense of community, particularly its unwavering support for small businesses. She Biology has thrived thanks to the encouragement I’ve received from so many individuals and organizations, such as Lowcountry Local First, The Harbour Club, and Black Charleston Professionals. They’ve championed the brand from its earliest stages.

Furthermore, while the clean beauty industry in Charleston is still evolving, I’m deeply passionate about being a part of its growth. I want to educate others about the transformative power of CBD and botanical formulas. These ingredients can genuinely heal, nourish, and enhance your skin, and I’m driven to spearhead this change in skincare philosophy.

What sets She Biology apart from other similar businesses?

She Biology sets itself apart by emphasizing the profound connection between skincare and mental well-being. We believe that a well-defined skincare routine can be transformed into a mindful self-care ritual, offering a sense of calm and focus amidst daily stressors.

This approach addresses a crucial challenge faced by many: heightened anxiety and worry during nighttime hours. By engaging in a mindful routine like cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, individuals can shift their focus from negative thoughts to the present moment and the sensations they experience.

Furthermore, She Biology goes beyond mindfulness by incorporating science-backed formulas. We utilize organic and lab-tested ingredients with proven efficacy to deliver real results for our customers. This combination of mindful practice and powerful formulations sets us apart and empowers individuals to achieve both beautiful skin and a sense of inner peace.

What’s next for She Biology?

I’m excited to share that our top-selling product, the Rich Skin Face Serum, is now patent-pending, solidifying its innovative formulation. This luxurious oil serum harnesses the power of over 50 superfood ingredients and peptides to visibly reduce signs of aging, clear acne, and fade dark spots.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce two exciting developments for She Biology:

  • Vertical integration: We’re establishing our own legalized hemp cultivation to source high-quality CBD oil for our skincare products, ensuring sustainability and control over the entire process.
  • Expanding our global reach: Watch out for She Biology at major international beauty events and festivals, including one associated with Essence magazine (stay tuned for more details).
