College of Charleston assistant sailing coach Ian Barrows wins bronze for Team USA

Exciting times are on the horizon for the College of Charleston’s sailing program.

College of Charleston assistant sailing coach Ian Barrows has a new accessory, and it’s one that you don’t come by too easily — an Olympic medal.

Barrows and his partner Hans Henken, are first-time Olympians; the pair won bronze in the men’s skiff event, which is the first US sailing medal since the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games. Fun fact: Henken’s sister Paris Henken sailed at CofC and was the first female Olympian in school history.

Barrows is set to officially join the Cougars + settle into the 843 once the 2024 Games wrap.
