College of Charleston assistant sailing coach Ian Barrows has a new accessory, and it’s one that you don’t come by too easily — an Olympic medal.

Barrows and his partner Hans Henken, are first-time Olympians; the pair won bronze in the men’s skiff event, which is the first US sailing medal since the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games. Fun fact: Henken’s sister Paris Henken sailed at CofC and was the first female Olympian in school history.

Barrows is set to officially join the Cougars + settle into the 843 once the 2024 Games wrap.
