Save the date. North Charleston’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. commemorative concert returns Saturday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. This year, Lowcountry Voices and The Choral Ensemble of Charleston Southern University’s Horton School of Music will present “Chains.”

Free and open to the public, the program will take place at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church and pay tribute to the legacy of Dr. King through musical storytelling under the direction of Nathan L. Nelson.

Lowcountry Voices is a performing arts nonprofit comprised of diverse singers dedicated to performing standard choral pieces emphasizing African American music, including Black gospel, jazz, and spirituals. The group performs locally, nationally, and abroad.
