Last month, we gave you the lowdown on the Lowcountry Lowline – a linear park planned for downtown Charleston, along a former rail line. In response, hundreds of you reached out to us to share your excitement about the future park and to weigh in with your own ideas + suggestions about what it should include.

Your input is important. The team at Friends of the Lowcountry Lowline, the nonprofit group leading the charge on the Lowline’s creation, tells us members of the community will play a major part in determining how it ultimately takes shape. Starting next week, they’ll host several community meetings in partnership with the City of Charleston, where they’ll begin gathering feedback from the public.

Here’s the schedule:

Weds., March 18 | 6 p.m. | Charleston Charter School for Math and Science, 1002 King St.

Tues., March 24 | 5 p.m. | Redux, 1056 King St.

Sat., April 25 | 10 a.m. | Charleston Charter School for Math and Science, 1002 King St.

Funding for the construction of the Lowline, along with its ongoing maintenance and management, will be acquired through a variety of means, part of which will be private donations. This week, a fundraising campaign was launched to fund public outreach.

You can learn more about the latest on the Lowcountry Lowline here + contribute to the fundraising campaign here. Up to $3,000 donated will be matched.
