Community

Thanks to the Lowcountry Land Trust, the Hamlin Beach community’s Coakley Chapel Park is permanently protected. At the 6.5-acre park’s center stands the historic Coakley Chapel (pictured above), originally known as The Meeting House. The chapel is a pivotal part of the community, serving as a prayer house, meeting space, and local resource hub.

Civic

On Monday, Aug. 25, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., the City of Charleston will hold a public meeting at Founders Hall to share details + hear from you on the proposed site for new city office buildings on Ingram Road in West Ashley. Register to join the conversation.

The event was held in partnership with SC nonprofit Serve and Connect, and was the largest event of its kind in the Lowcountry. Agencies packed boxes of food and hygiene products. (WCSC)
