Navy Yard Charleston, a mixed-use redevelopment project at the former naval base, is set to welcome Second State Coffee this winter. The coffee shop will be located in the Charleston Design District and marks the fifth location for the local brand. (The Post and Courier)

Plans for MUSC’s Innovation District are moving forward after a zoning overlay was approved by the planning commission. This move aims to relax some restrictions, like parking requirements and building height limits. Up next, therezoning application will go to the city council next month. (WCIV + WCSC)

There’s a new spot to eat Mediterranean cuisine in Mount Pleasant. Taziki’s Mediterranean Café opened its fourth cafe in SC. The new spot is located at 1710 Shoremeade Rd., Ste. 450, near REI.
Development
The renovation of North Charleston’s Tanger Outlets is complete. Guests will enjoy a new paint scheme, gathering spaces, and dining amenities. Mark your calendar for the official unveiling on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music, and family activities. (Holy City Sinner)

The Kiawah Conservancy is looking for volunteers to help harvest the sweetgrass on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 7 to 9 a.m. Pro tip: The process is simple but labor-intensive. Wear close-toed shoes, bring long sleeves, pants, a water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen. Sign up.
