You may have seen her name on the big screen at some major tennis tournaments, or in action here at the Credit One Charleston Open — we’re talking about Emma Navarro. So before you root for her at upcoming tournaments, let’s get to know her a little.

It’s all about the hometown love. While the top-ranked tennis player was born in New York, she’s called Charleston home for many years. Navarro is a proud Ashley Hall Alumna, representing the class of 2020.

Acing achievements
From the collegiate championships to the Olympics, she’s competed on every level. Here are a few of Navarro’s athletic career highlights:

Serving up Charleston favorites
Last spring, we had a chance to sit down with Navarro before the Credit One Charleston Open, and she shared some of her favorite spots around town. She told us she loves heading to Colonial Lake for an evening stroll, King Street shopping, and catching sunsets at Sullivan’s Island + the Battery.

When it came to the top spots to grab a bite to eat, she had some great recommendations, including: The Obstinate Daughter, Home Team BBQ, Poe’s Tavern, Sorelle, Little Jack’s Tavern, and Lewis Barbecue. She also shared she loved the vibes on Shem Creek and at Saltwater Cowboys.

Upcoming play
Root for Navarro today at the Monterrey Open + this weekend (her play at the US Open will start Sunday, Aug. 24).
