Next month, Bareo, a Filipino-Japanese restaurant from Chef Nikko Cagalanan and the folks behind Kultura, is set to open at 73 Spring St. (the former Kultura spot). The new concept promises dumplings, kakigori, and great vibes.
Closed
After more than 50 years of serving the Lowcountry, local boutique Affordables Apparel has closed. The retail spot, known as the first discount fashion store in Charleston, once had six locations in the area. The brand’s sister store, Aiden Lane, has also closed its two locations. Development
Real estate groups Henderson Park and Landmark Properties gathered with community members to break ground on The Mark Charleston, a student housing community for the College of Charleston. With completion for the 2027–2028 academic year, the six-story building will feature 335 beds, three rooftop decks, and a pool deck.
Concert
Are you ready to “Lose Control”? Teddy Swims is making a stop in the Lowcountry. The singer, known for blending R&B, soul, hip-hop, and pop, will perform at the North Charleston Coliseum on Wednesday, June 10. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
Travel
Readyto explore more than a dozen Jersey Shore boardwalks? Breeze Airways now offers the first-ever direct connection between Charleston and Atlantic City. Service begins on Wednesday, May 6. Flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Charleston Southern University Buccaneers announced it’s adding Women’s Flag Football to its sports program. This will mark CSU’s 17th varsity sport; the team is set to compete in the spring of 2028.

New parking options for downtown hospitality workers at Union Pier Terminal are expected to be ready in roughly 60 days. CARTA’s board unanimously approved a $83,000 temporary lot at Concord Street lot taht is set to have a fence and an electronically controlled gate, and add 200+ parking spaces.
