Ahoy, Charleston. Are you looking for a family-friendly event that is educational and fun? On Saturday, June 1, the Powder Magazine Museum + the Old Exchange Building are collaborating to showcase Charleston’s pirate history with a pirate encampment, arrest, and trial. You read that right.
Pirate reenactors will take over in the front cannon yard at the Powder Magazine Museum (79 Cumberland St.) and demonstrate nautical crafts.
“Redcoat soldiers” will arrest the pirate crews at ~ 3 p.m. and take them to the Old Exchange Building (122 E. Bay St.) for trial, which will begin at 3:30 p.m. The crime is piracy on the high seas. Attendees can help decide their fate during an interactive mock trial.
Admission to the Powder Magazine Museum is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 7-16, and free for children under 7.
