Need some fun weekend plans? We’ve got two words — stomping and wine. Doesn’t that sound like a great time? On Saturday, Aug. 19, the Grape Stomp Festival returns to Deep Water Vineyard at 6775 Bears Bluff Rd., on Wadmalaw Island.

The vineyard’s most popular festival is a day filled with family fun, food, wine, draft meads, and you guessed it — grape stomping. This year, the charity partner for the festival is the Charleston-based nonprofit The Formation Project.

Gates open at 9:30 a.m. and festival attendees can expect a food truck lineup that includes Crystal Coast Seafood & Lobster, Fed Up!, A Boy and His Dogs, and Miss Katie’s Sweets. Guests can also jam out to live music from Josh and Leslie Roberts + Dallas Baker and Friends.

Family-friendly activities include yard games, swinging, visiting the vineyard’s animals, and sipping kid slushies.

Stomping

If you want to sign up for one of the four stomping contests, you can do so when you get your parking pass. All you need is a positive attitude + a great stomping partner and whoever produces the most juice will win a prize.

If the contests sells out, do not fear — barrels are still available just for fun and photos.

Lucy Look-a-like Contest
