Randall Fowler is a small-town boy from Goose Creek who is breaking through the country music scene. He recently signed a record deal with Reviver Entertainment Group in June.

We got to chat with him this past week and hear about his local connection to Charleston and the Lowcountry’s influence on his music.

How has the transition been from Charleston to Nashville?

I have lived in Charleston for around 25 years of my life and miss my family and friends often. But the people here have been great to me, and I would encourage anyone who has a similar dream to go for it.

What is your favorite venue to play in the Holy City?

Shoutout to Juanita Greenberg’s for always letting me play acoustic on Thursday nights down there. They have a $3 glorious shot list that was a good time.

While we couldn’t dig up those old Juanita’s pictures we did find this shot of Randall when he sold out the Windjammer.

Did growing up in this area influence your love for country music?

Oh yes, in general and in life. Country music talks about real life scenarios, and I think Charleston allowed me to see different types of culture.

How are you feeling about the new record deal?

Grateful, especially for the team I am working with. They believed in me before I even moved to town and have let me explore my options to get my feet wet. It was a no-brainer to join Reviver Records with Clay Myers and David Ross.

Will you want to settle back down in this area in the long term future?

Absolutely, that is the goal to get my daughter back over there. It is a special place and I am blessed to be from there. I went to Goose Creek High School, graduated in 2005, and miss it.

If you were to write a song about Charleston, what would be its key features?

Water, we would have to have some fun. I have a lot friends who spend time out on the water down there. The song would also have to be a collaboration though, because I think there is more to the city than I know.

If you could have a weekend to visit here, without performing, how would you spend it?

Definitely catching up with family and friends. We are blessed to have a great support group of family and friends in Goose Creek, Hanahan, and that area. I would want to enjoy good food with them and grab a beer.

Randall will be coming back to his roots this weekend to play the Cane Bay Firework Show in Summerville. He will also be a part of the Riverfront Revival Festival in October.

You can listen to his new single “Other Side of a Heartbreak” on Spotify and explore the rest of his music.
