Free art festival this week in North Charleston

Hey Charlestonians, it’s time to celebrate the local art scene. Check out our FAQ-style rundown of the 39th Annual North Charleston Arts Fest this week so you can get up to speed before you head out the door.

What is the North Charleston Arts Fest?
This annual festival is a five-day celebration of local + regional arts and culture. The goal is to engage and inspire the public through art programming.

When is it?
The festival starts Wed., May 4 and ends Sun, May 8.

How much does it cost?
All events are free + open to the public in order to promote inclusivity and accessibility.

Where is it?
Events will be held in 17 venues across North Charleston including spots like Firefly Distillery, Park Circle Gallery, Riverfront Park, and Otranto Road Regional Library. See all the venues + addresses.

What events will there be?
Get ready for 25 performances, workshops, exhibitions, and demonstrations in the arts. We’re fired up for the Opening Celebration on Wednesday, the Art Block Party on Friday, and the Americana Concert on Sunday. Explore the full list of events here.

Will there be food + drinks?
Some events like the Jazz Fusion Concert will have eats available for purchase, and others like the Opening Celebration will provide complimentary bites and sips.

How can I participate?
To enter the Judged Art Competition & Exhibition and the Judged Photography Competition & Exhibition, enter by tomorrow at 7 p.m.

How can I buy merch + art?
Merch is available for purchase at Exhibit Hall A of the Charleston Area Convention Center + Park Circle Gallery during the fest. Staff will be conducting artwork sales during the Judged Fine Art, Judged Photography, and SC Palmetto Hands Fine Craft events in Exhibit Hall A.
