Charleston International Airport will receive ~$2 million in federal funds. The Federal Aviation Administration will provide the money — which is intended for updating the airport as well as improving safety + sustainability.

Planned projects:
✈️ Adding a handicap passenger lift device
✈️ Sealing taxiway pavement surfaces and joints
✈️ Renovating the taxiway
✈️ Sealing apron pavement and joints

Nearly $85,000 of the funds will go toward acquiring the passenger lift device to assist passengers with disabilities board + exit planes in compliance with the ADA.

Additionally, Lowcountry Regional Airport in Walterboro will receive ~$900,000 to update its existing taxiway and build another.
