Let’s get down to business, Charleston – the South Carolina Democratic primary is just around the corner. Well, okay, the primary isn’t until Leap Day (Feb. 29) this year, but the last day to register to vote is Thursday, January 30.

I know, registering to vote (or just checking to make sure you’re registered) sounds like one more thing to add to your never-ending to-do list, but it is so easy. 🗳️

How to register:

Make sure you have a valid South Carolina ID.
○ Click this link. It will only take about two minutes to register.

Where to vote + what to bring:

Once you’re registered, click this link to find out where to vote.
On election day, bring one of the following with you: An SC driver’s license, SC DMV ID card, SC voter registration card with photo, a federal military ID, or a US Passport.

How to volunteer:

Sign up to volunteer with HeadCount a non-partisan voter registration organization – and help get people registered.

If you’re unsure who to vote for, take this quick quiz & see which candidates your views align with. iSideWith is not affiliated with any political party and has been taken by millions of people + has even been used in classrooms.

The South Carolina GOP voted to cancel the presidential preference primary which was originally scheduled for February – but because South Carolina has an open primary, you can vote in the Democratic primary next month regardless of your political affiliation. If you decide not to vote, you should go ahead + register anyways – it’s never too early to get registered for Nov. 3rd.

Still undecided about which candidate to give your vote? Be sure to tune in to the Democratic Debate on Feb. 25. It’s the last Democratic debate, and it’s taking place right here in Charleston, at the Gaillard Center. The South Carolina Democratic Party hasn’t announced how to get tickets to see it in person yet - but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as those details are announced.
