Since its inception in 2006, Charleston Wine + Food has grown to be one of the city’s biggest events of the year. The five-day fest features dozens of activities spanning the tri-county. While all aim to celebrate wine + food from around the world, Lowcountry flare is present throughout.
Plus, for the first time ever, CHSWFF is partnering with NBC’s TODAY show– with Kathie Lee Gifford + Al Roker coming to cover the event. Set your DVR for this Friday at 9 a.m., when the show will be broadcast live from Waterfront Park.
#CHSWFF by the numbers:
$15.3 million. The economic impact generated by last year’s event. Charleston Wine + Food Festival is a nonprofit organization– and 95 cents of every dollar spent producing the festival goes towards its mission to enhance Charleston’s vibrancy + fuel its economic growth.
29,072. The number of people who attended the festival in 2018. Of those, 13,780 festival-goers were visitors to Charleston from cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, NYC, DC, + Boston.
7. The number of ‘Neighborhoods’ inside the Culinary Village– which is basically a foodie-themed amusement park in the heart of the city– open Friday-Sunday inside Marion Square. This year, the Neighborhoods will consist of the ‘Patio’, an ‘Artisan Market’, the ‘Hub’, the ‘Beer Garden’, the ‘Corkyard’, + the ‘Rosé Garden’.
109. The total number of events lined up for CHSWFF this year.
22. The number of signature events (a.k.a. culinary events put on in a non-traditional atmosphere) planned. This year’s signature events range from the ‘Hipster Cocktail Party’– where guests will sip artisanal cocktails while enjoying a live DJ spinning vinyl, to the ‘Southern Renaissance’– which showcases chefs who are giving new meaning to what we consider traditional Southern cuisine.
31. The number of beverage workshops being held. Of those, there will be 22 wine workshops and nine spirits + beer workshops, all led by beverage pros from around the world.
While most of this year’s event have long been sold out, CHSWFF has partnered with Lyte to provide an official ticket exchange for those who are still hoping to snag a seat at the table. Find it here.
