The AAA Four Diamond hotel is tucked in the heart of one of Charleston’s oldest neighborhoods, established in the 1700s by Lord Anson, a British Royal Navy Officer. The upgrades have revitalized the space while honoring its rich history. Built as a stationer’s warehouse in approx. 1901, developers have made changes that balance its historic roots with modern comfort.

“Throughout the renovation process, our goal was to unearth the property’s rich history and distinctive character that resides within its wall. The property now balances historic and timeless charm with elegance and modern comfort,” said General Manager Carrie Huston in a recent press release.

The boutique 45-room property now features upgraded indoor and outdoor spaces, including an expanded bar + lounge, a new rooftop garden, and fireplaces. The property will also feature a “Poker Room” discreetly positioned past a secret bookcase enclave, paying homage to the folklore that Lord Anson became the rightful owner of the Ansonborough neighborhood after winning a high-profile poker game.
