Charleston pets: Paws up for the pups

We asked readers to send us photos of their Charleston-resident pets, and they delivered. Here’s our roundup of Holy City pups.

A doodle sat on a wooden pier by a lake. It is a marshy lake with classic Lowcontry foliage surrounding it.

This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for. After weeks of asking our readers to submit their paw-fect pet pictures, we’ve put together our first — absolutely adorable — roundup.

We received dozens of photos of our neighborhood cats and dogs, so we decided to divide the spotlight to double the celebration. This one’s for the pups. After all, cute animals were what the internet was really made for in the first place.

Editor’s note: We had too many submissions to include everyone’s photos.

Put your paws up for...

A side-by-side photo of a black and white German shepherd-looking dog. Both photos have the dog close to the camera, looking over to the left. The left photo has summery reeds and a lake behind, the right photo shows Daemon sat on snow with his tongue out, excited.

“2-year-old husky mix Daemon is the kind of dog that’s never met a stranger and loves to make new friends. He’s 85 lbs of goofball.” | Photos by Maddy L.

Two French bulldogs on a sofa, both leaning their arm across and looking at the camera in unison. It looks like they are posing on purpose.

A side by side photo, both with the same two dogs in them — a grey doodle and a black mixed dog. The left photo has them in a lush green garden, and they are in a car on the right.

“Hatch (black dog) and Cruise (grey) love living in Charleston and going to the parks. They love to go anywhere we take them!” | Photo by Julie G.

A split screen image of two photos of the same dog. He looks like a pitty lab mix and is brown and white/grey. On the left he is smiling in a blue sweater, on the right he is wearing a yellow bandana in a sun-strewn back yard.

“This is my mixed breed adopted pup, Mason. He is 8 1/2, mostly pittie and husky. He loves to nap, window watch, and pup cups!” | Photo by April S.

Two blond beagles looking at the camera, sharing a small bed, lying face to face.

Congrats on making it this far, you’re clearly an animal lover — and we love that for you. If you’re looking for a new furry friend in your life, plenty of pets are in need of a home at Charleston Animal Society.
