Lumber provider Interfor will invest $30 million in Summerville

Interfor Corporation1 of the world’s largest lumber providers — is expanding operations at its Summerville sawmill with a $30 million investment.

For context, SC Forestry Commission reported in 2019 that the forestry industry contributes over $21 billion to SC’s economy. The pulp + paper industry alone contributes $12.8 billiona larger footprint than all other forestry sectors combined. Forestry ranks No. 1 in SC jobs, No. 2 in labor income, and No. 3 in direct economic output.

Interfor has 21 sawmills across the US and Canada + offers a wide variety of lumber products such as furniture, decking, and framing worldwide. The company is a leader in forest management and responsible sourcing + is committed to sustainability.
