The Kiawah River community is getting its first amenity: Spring House. Construction on the new 9,000-sqft. waterfront swim and fitness club recently began, and the facility is expected to open in late summer 2021.

Spring House will serve as a gathering place for Kiawah River residents. The concept, designed by Charleston-based Beau Clowney Architects, was inspired by the 18th- and 19th-century buildings traditionally constructed over natural springs that provided a cool, shaded place to store food.

Features will include a junior Olympic-sized family pool, an adults-only pool, a full-service kitchen + shaded bar for those warm, summer nights when you want to dine outside. Other ground-floor amenities include cabanas, a hot tub, shaded children’s play + activity space, an outdoor fireplace with lounge seating and a lower deck overlooking the Kiawah River.

Its second and third levels will include men’s and women’s locker rooms with saunas and steam rooms. Individual and group fitness programs – inspired by Jennie Brooks, founder of Longevity Fitness Charleston – will be available in this space.

Additional features:

  • Dedicated weight room
  • Top-of-the-line cardio and group training studios
  • A spacious porch for boutique fitness classes
  • Ample multipurpose space

Spring House is the first amenity to open in Kiawah River. It will later be joined by a roadside farm stand and market, a chapel and event hall, a riverfront lodge, river view restaurant + an environmental learning center and fish camp.
