The manufacturing industry is booming in SC. The industry has a powerful economic impact of approximately $206 billion every year in the state — according to the Darla Moore School of Business at UofSC, SC Future Makers + SC Manufacturers Alliance.
SC Future Makers reported 30% of jobs in the state are tied to manufacturing + the industry pays 33% higher annual wages than the state average. Manufacturing also accounts for 38% of SC’s General Fund. The numbers speak for themselves.
The industry is experiencing considerable growth in the Charleston area as well. M.C. Dean, Inc. — a manufacturing company based in Virginia — is expanding operations in Charleston County with a $7.3 million investment. The expansion project will be completed by spring 2022 and will help create 126 new jobs.
