New concept plans to open in former Morgan Creek Grill spot on Isle of Palms

Remember when Isle of Palms restaurant Morgan Creek Grill permanently closed after serving the Lowcountry for almost 20 years? There’s been quite a discussion on what will take the restaurant’s place — and we’ve got the answer.

The city-owned property will soon welcome a new tenant into the 8,716 sqft, two-story waterfront restaurant located at 80 41st Ave.

Set to open this spring, Islander 71 Fish House and Deck Bar will offer locally caught seafood, southern dishes, and drinks at the spot situated on the Intracoastal Waterway. We see lots of golden hour photos in the restaurant’s future.

Isle of Palms residents + Mex 1 Coastal Cantina owners Dave and Chrissy Lorenz are teaming up with Jon Bushnell to bring the classic fish house concept to the Island, while keeping a “neighborhood feel” + casual hangout in mind.

The existing restaurant will undergo renovations to offer enhanced water views, additional outdoor deck space, seating expansion, and a yard for events.

Stay tuned for more info on the official opening date + menu details.
