Get to know Charleston’s pocket parks

Allan Park | @charlestonparks

Hidden in plain sight all over the peninsula are pocket parks. While they may not compete against parks like Hampton + Waterfront– pocket parks play an important role in downtown neighborhoods.

Typically taking up no more space than a single lot, pocket parks may only include greenery + park benches for neighbors to sit and take in the fresh air. Others offer community gardens open for neighbors to access herbs + produce.

Take a quick break from all the hustle + bustle of downtown Charleston– without traveling more than a few blocks– by visiting one of the pocket parks we’ve listed below. Or, use the Charleston Parks Conservancy’s park finder tool to locate the pocket park closest to you.

🌺 Allan Park | 365 Ashley Ave.

🌻 Theodora Park | 94 Anson St.

🌺 Elliotborough Park + Community Garden | 184 Line St.

🌻Chapel Street Fountain Park | 50 Chapel St.
