Downtown Charleston: The Historic District
○ Median real estate price: $2,793,539 – which is more expensive than 99.9% of the neighborhoods in S.C. + 99.7% higher than any of the neighborhoods in the U.S.
○ Average rental price: $2,086 – which is higher than 96.9% of the neighborhoods in S.C.
○ Notable neighborhood characteristics: True to its designation as a Historic District, this neighborhood is older than 99.9% of those in America. 85.7% of the homes + other residential real estate here was built in or before 1939.
Mount Pleasant: Hobcaw Point/Scanlonville
○ Median Real Estate Price: $790,165 – which is more expensive than 98.2% of the neighborhoods in S.C. + 92.6% higher than any of the neighborhoods in the U.S.
○ Average Rental Price: $2,019 – which is higher than 98.2% of the neighborhoods in S.C.
○ Notable neighborhood characteristics: Overlooking both the Wando River + Hobcaw Creek, the Hobcaw Point neighborhood has been around since the 1950s. Neighboring Scanlonville (known to some as Remleys Point) was established after the Civil War as one of the first communities for African Americans.
Daniel Island
