The oyster roast supports AWS’s various services, which help veterans + their families, individuals with justice system involvement, the unhoused, and at-risk youth and adults.

Shell-ebrate a good cause at the annual Alston Wilkes Society (AWS) Oyster Roast happening Sun., Oct. 23 from 1-4 p.m. at Bowens Island Restaurant. Guests will be treated to local oysters, hors d’oeuvres, live music, a silent auction, and more. 🦪

Proceeds benefit AWS, a nonprofit that provides supportive services to those at risk in our community with hope for a brighter future, through services like:

  • Adult Residential Services Ensures that residents have all the necessary tools (think: life-skill training, financial management classes, counseling, and more) for them to transition back into their communities, where they can become productive and successful members of society.
  • Veteran Services provides transitional housing for veterans and their families in the Midlands.
  • Youth Services helps transition residents to a less restrictive environment and supports family reunification.
  • Community Services Program assists individuals in rebuilding their lives as productive, law-abiding members of the community.
