Volvo invests $118 million in SC expansion

$118 million. That’s how much money Volvo Cars will invest in the expansion of its electric vehicle production in Ridgeville (~1 hour away from the Holy City).

The plant will produce the Polestar 3 battery electric vehicle — Volvo Car Group’s next generation electric architecture at the SC plant under contract for Polestar Cars, an electric performance car brand.

The plant currently produces the Volvo S60 luxury sedan for America and export markets. With the expansion, the fully electric Polestar 3 will join the S60 + the next generation of electrified Volvo cars — all from the same facility.

This expansion brings the total of Volvo Cars investment in the state to $1.2+ billion. That’s some major moola.
