Monday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day, a federal holiday honoring those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Expect various closures related to the holiday, and help honor our military personnel by supporting local veteran-focused organizations.

  • Warrior Surf Foundation | A nonprofit that provides surf therapy, yoga, and community to veterans with mental health challenges.
  • She’s the Veteran | This group works with female veterans to provide a supportive community + spearhead health and mental health research efforts.
  • Veterans on Deck | The focus of this nonprofit program is to prevent and treat PTSD symptoms through sailing.
  • Lowcountry Veterans | Provides transitional housing, food, and transportation services + volunteer, educational, and employment opportunities to unhoused US military veterans.
  • Vantage Point Foundation | Helps veterans transition to civilian life through multi-day courses.
  • RJ’s Mission Foundation | This group serves those who serve us through awareness, advocacy, and support.
  • Palmetto Military Support Group | Connects the community with military service members through volunteering, fundraising, engagement, and education.
  • Operation Vet Fit | Provides mental health care for combat veterans, helps them access benefits and programs, and provides camaraderie-based motivational activities and events.

As a small token of thanks, several businesses are offering Veterans Day deals. Pro tip: Be prepared to show your military ID.
