HYLO Fitness is a boutique fitness studio that offers several workout options, including high-intensity, yoga, pilates, and barre-styled classes, along with personal training to meet folks at every stage of their fitness journey.

We recently caught up with Anna Urbano, an instructor at HYLO Nexton, who chatted with us about all things wellness + fitness.

How does HYLO help folks reach their goals?
We focus on creating an engaging and supportive environment to help clients achieve their health and wellness objectives. The studio emphasizes a balanced approach to fitness with diverse workouts designed to keep sessions interesting and effective.

How would you describe HYLO in one word?
Dynamic

Why is balance in your fitness routine so important?
It enhances overall health and well-being by addressing various aspects of fitness, including cardiovascular health, strength, endurance, and flexibility. A balanced fitness routine also keeps your workouts engaging and challenging, so you’ll stay motivated.

What classes do you teach?
Core, which is our latest pilates-inspired class that blends large-range movements, cardio exercises, and targeted core conditioning. This high-energy, beat-driven workout is designed to boost your heart rate while strengthening and toning your core, providing a comprehensive full-body workout. Additionally, the class is heated to 90 degrees for an extra challenge.

Where is your favorite place to workout that’s not in a gym?
Any area that offers scenic running views or outdoor spaces with an open field where you can easily bring a pair of dumbbells, a jump rope, and resistance bands — and just get an effective workout in the fresh air.

What is your favorite wellness spot around town?
Youth Lab, our neighbor at Hylo Nexton. I love using their body compression boots, especially after a hard workout. They also offer a red light therapy bed which will help with inflammation in the body and a sauna (I’m so excited to use it once their building opens).

For those looking to take the first steps on their fitness journey, what’s your advice?
Start by setting your goals — begin with small, manageable objectives and gradually build from there. Then, show up + show up consistently, even on days when you don’t feel like it. Fitness is built on discipline.

Instead of viewing the gym or your workout as a chore, integrate it into your weekly routine as a necessary habit. Once you make these small changes, your whole life shifts the way you think, how intentional you are with your time, and how disciplined you become. I know starting can be scary and intimidating, but I promise, when you keep showing up, it gets better.

Check out other gyms in the area to get your sweat on.
