72 degrees. That’s the average high temperature in Seattle this month. How good does that sound right about now, CHS? (Yes, we’re dreaming about vacations to cooler destinations – and the opportunity to maybe, just maybe, wear a hoodie.)

ICYMI, Charleston International Airport just added another opportunity to get from CHS to Sea-Tac (officially Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, or SEA) and beyond when Alaska Airlines added Tuesday flights to their offerings just last month; increasing flights to six days a week.

CHS originally launched service to SEA via Alaska Air in November of 2015. These year-round flights offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays + Sundays connected the Lowcountry to the Pacific Northwest directly for the first time. In fact, it was CHS’ first direct flight to the West Coast.

Obviously, Seattle is an incredible destination to visit on its own. But Seattle is also a major hub to destinations across the PNW + a gateway to transpacific travel (trip to Tokyo anyone?). Alaska Airlines is the fifth-largest U.S. airline as measured by fleet size, scheduled passengers carried + destinations served. SEA is its largest hub + home to its headquarters.

Bonus: Alaska Air’s service from CHS to SEA is non-stop – meaning with a flight time of six hours, you can be in Charleston at 5 p.m. + Seattle at 8 p.m. (Thanks, time zones.)
