Last July, talk circulated that the Charleston Battery Soccer Club was moving from its Daniel Island home to a field downtown in order to host a larger audience.

However, after the $6.4 million sale of the historic MUSC Health Stadium + surrounding land in preparation for the big move, plans changed. Instead, the team will be playing its 2020 season at the College of Charleston’s Ralph Lundy Field, which is located at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant.

After 20 years at the MUSC Health Stadium (originally known as Blackbaud Stadium, which was the first stadium in the US dedicated solely to soccer), Charleston Battery saw its final game at its home field last October.

The team is now gearing up for its 2020 season at its new home turf, which will be completed in time for its season opener against Philadelphia Union 2 on March 28. The new owner, HCFC, hopes to remain at this location through 2023.
