$220 million. The cost of the massive import hub that Walmart is building at the State Ports Authority’s business park in Dorchester County — the Ridgeville Industrial Campus.

Let’s cut to the chase. Here’s what Walmart’s big Lowcountry hub is expected to do:

  • Handle goods for 850+ stores
  • Create 1,000 jobs
  • Bring 77,000+ containers through Charleston per year

Walmart has also earned the title as the first retail importer to establish ground in the industrial campus. This 3 million-sqft distribution center is set to open next year.
