Charleston friends, this one hits us right in the feels. The Berkeley Animal Center is over capacity and in serious need of providing dogs + cats a furr-ever home this holiday season.

Earlier this week, the center had about 50% of their total capacity come into the shelter. Some of the animals brought in included 19 dogs + several horses. You can read more about that here. To help support animals during this time, the shelter is trying to house dogs in pop-up shelters, but some have to be outside.

Here’s what the animal shelter needs:

Fosters Shelter an animal until a permanent home is found for them here. The center will provide medical care + food to foster families.

Adoptions Provide an animal a furr-ever home here.

DonationsGive a gift that will provide shelter animals with foster supplies, help fund medical expenses + more here.

VolunteersHelp clean up or walk dogs outside here.

An official for the animal center confirmed that a new, much needed animal shelter is currently being built and a soft opening is planned for June of 2021. Berkeley Animal Center is located at 502 Cypress Gardens Road in Moncks Corner. Learn more about how you can help the center here.

In case you missed it, here’s a list of animal adoptions centers (we can’t promise the animals listed are still available, but there are other furry friends available) and rescue organizations around Charleston. Once you take your new pet home, here’s a list of doggie daycares and spas to give them a little extra pampering.
