Charleston Carifest: parade, food, and celebrations

Charleston Carifest Caribbean Carnival is happening Thurs., June 16, Sat., June 18, and Sun., June 19. This three-day celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month is jam-packed with a parade, live music, crafts, and Caribbean food.
The festival incorporates education and culture into this weekend of events, emphasizing the artistic expression of Caribbean people. This year’s fest recognizes + celebrates the Queens of the Caribbean and the Virgin Islands.

Plan your festival:

  • Sat., June 18: Watch the Carnival Street Parade featuring masquerade bands from 4-5 p.m. starting on John Street.
  • Sat., June 18: The Carnival Village Celebration at Brittlebank Park will have live performances + authentic eats from 5-11 p.m., see the lineup.
  • Sat., June 18: The Carnival After Party will take place at Mama Rumba Latin Lounge from 11 p.m.-2 a.m.
  • Sun., June 19: Celebrate at the Carnival Last Lap held at Le Creme from 6-11 p.m.

Parade route: The Mardi-Gras-style street parade will begin on John Street, head down King Street, and turn onto Congress Street on the way to festivities at Brittlebank Park.
