These pets are looking to settle down furever

Surely, you have seen the 2007 Sarah McLachlan SPCA commercial– warning: may cause you to hold your cat + uncontrollably sob. But, once you have stopped crying, did you go out to adopt a pet?

Apparently, many people did– those ads raised over $30 million for the ASPCA + the amount of companion animals entering shelters has decreased from 7.2 million in 2011 to 6.5 million today.

While progress has been made, the 6.5 million companion animals still needing homes would say it is nothing to shake a stick at.

For National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, we’ve helped local pets create their online dating paw-files so you can find the new love of your life– or at least make a new fur-end.

If you’re not in a position to adopt a pet at this time, you can still help by:

  1. Fostering a pet
  2. Volunteering at one of the local shelters
  3. Donating supplies
  4. Sharing these pets with someone who might be their purr-fect match.

Our office cat, Binky, was adopted in 2017 by our producer Jen. Binky’s mom, Squeaky, had been found in an apartment complex parking lot when a tenant realized she was pregnant + took her in for medical care.

Since then, Jen + Binky have come to share a special bond. Their love affair has even resulted in a portraitone which our staff can forever enjoy.
