The Charleston Museum will debut the new exhibit “Reimagined Fashion: Creations of the Future Past”

Opening May 3, the Historic Textiles Gallery in the Charleston Museum will feature local designers’ innovative takes on fashion inspired by the Museum’s textile collection.

Sleeveless A-line dress made of paper featuring a large black and white photographic print of a rose on the front, displayed on a black dress form with a geometric line background.

The exhibit honors our local design community and the powerful connection between different eras of fashion and textile history.

A new exhibit will debut at The Charleston Museum on Saturday, May 3. “Reimagined Fashion: Creation of the Future Past” will be on display in the Historic Textile Gallery and features original works by local designers from diverse artistic backgrounds.

Each piece is inspired by objects in the museum’s Historic Textile Collection, reimagined as contemporary garments, jewelry, and accessories. Fun Fact: The Historic Textiles Collection includes ~10,000 objects.

Designers featured in the exhibition include Jared Major of Major Vintage, Leigh Magar of Madame Magar, Shaniequa L. Washington of Zuriel Kingdom Collections, Morgan MacAnanny of Morgan Kimberly Bridal, Jocelyn Patterson of Gola Sweetgrass, Andrea Jahde of Jahde Leather Atelier, and more.

Did you know? Reimagined Fashion began in 2019 as a one-night-only event. Now, it’s evolved into a full-scale exhibition — and you’ll have the chance to experience it through January 18, 2026.

Bonus: There’s an opening party on Friday, May 2, to celebrate — be among the first to experience the exhibit. Tickets start at $70.
