CHS to welcome new luxury resort, The Dunlin

Auberge Resorts Collection, a portfolio of award-winning hotels, resorts + residences, recently announced plans for a new coastal resort, The Dunlin (named after the local shorebird), to open in 2024 along the Charleston coastline in Kiawah River’s waterfront community.

The property is set on 2,000 acres of picturesque land with 20 miles of riverfront nature trails + Lowcountry marshlands — welcoming families for a charming Lowcountry getaway.

About the architect + designer:

Renowned architect Robert Glazier was chosen to design the resort. His repertoire of hotels, resorts + spas carefully respect both the local architectural character and natural site features.

Acclaimed designer Amanda Lindroth of Lindroth Designs will lead the interior design of the property. Lindroth will establish the resort aesthetic through classic, island-inspired interiors, sunny batik prints + soothing undertones.

The resort will include 72 cottage-style guest rooms + suites and 19 residential villas, including an intimate honeymoon cottage.

Scenic grounds will feature:

  • A main lodge with a spacious wraparound porch
  • Great rooms designed for unwinding
  • A library lounge

The resort property will feature:

  • A pool with lattice cabanas
  • A full-service spa
  • Dining destinations featuring local bounties from the Kiawah River Farm
  • Nature excursions
  • Kiawah River’s The Spring House, a riverfront swim + fitness facility

Two event spaces, including an indoor-outdoor, 10,000 sqft. event hall will be available for gatherings, meetings + celebrations.

Guests can experience one-of-a-kind activities for all ages, including:

  • Fly fishing
  • Crabbing + boating excursions
  • Paddleboarding on Kiawah River’s Jack Island Pond
  • Hiking or biking on 20 miles of nature trails

As the region’s only agrihood, Kiawah River features multiple working farms, a goat dairy, heirloom beef cattle and a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program that delivers fresh local food to residents + resort restaurants.
