Local billionaire Ben Navarro is expected to buy downtown’s largest hotelBelmond Charleston Place — by the end of the year.

Ben is a philanthropist in the community who started Meeting Street Academy School. He and his wife, Kelly, attended the grand opening of Charleston Place 35+ years ago.

Private wealth management firm Beemok Capital plans to invest Ben’s personal fortune in the 433-room hotel in both a business move and an effort to “maintain its iconic position within the community.”

The hotel went on the market recently and is being sold by lifestyle group LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton — aka LVMH.
