Frigid winter weather causes several Charleston businesses to make schedule changes.

Brrr. No doubt it’s cold out, but we want to know, did you get any snow? Jump out of bed and go peek out of your window. Seriously, go — we’ll wait.

Even if your neighborhood has only seen a dusting, several schools, businesses, and government offices have already made changes to their schedules due to snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Keep reading for a list of closures and delays.

Closures

❄️ Schools

All after-school care, activities, programs, and athletic practices and games have been postponed or canceled.

  • Charleston Southern University | The university will pivot to online learning and all on-campus, in-person events are canceled. Dining services will remain available.
  • College of Charleston | Classes will be virtual today, residence halls will remain open, and dining and necessary support services will also be provided.
  • The Citadel | Classes will take place online. The mess hall, Deas Hall, Daniel Library, and the Infirmary will remain open.
  • Trident Technical College | All Trident Technical College campuses will be closed + classes and services will be virtual.
  • Medical University of South Carolina | Officials are monitoring the potential impacts of the expected winter storm. At last check a decision on Wednesday, Jan. 22 classes had not been made.

❄️ Government

City of Charleston | Offices are closed, and all public meetings are being rescheduled. See changes to garbage and trash collection, warming shelters, and other tips for the winter weather.

The aquarium, several restaurants, stores, and museums have also announced closures; so if you must head out, be sure to check their social media accounts or call ahead for updates.
