The new Agrihood is a farm-centered community blends sustainable living with walkable access to local goods and educational experiences for all ages.

The Carnes Crossroads community recently launched and celebrated its new Agrihood — the largest of its kind in SC.

Not familiar with the term? An Agrihood is a residential community built around a shared agricultural space. Residents of Carnes Crossroads have access to fresh produce, herbs, and local goods, promoting sustainable living and highlighting the importance of supporting local agriculture and the economy.

The Agrihood includes a working farm, a farm store, and a children’s garden, where residents can get involved in food production and enjoy access to locally grown goods, all within walking distance of their homes.

Not a resident? You can still explore the Agrihood by signing up for a tour on its website. Tours are offered Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m. Pro tip: The farm store is also open to the public for purchasing fresh, local products.
